The rise and rise of renewable energy

Recent research by the Worldwatch Institute reveals that production of renewable energy is growing at an astounding 20-30% per year. This increase is even more impressive (and encouraging for renewable energy supporters) when you compare the increase with the 2% growth rate of oil and gas.  More info...

Energy Smart Government Program saves $7.7 million

In the three years since the State Government launched its Energy Smart Government program, agencies participating in the program have cut their greenhouse gas emission by nearly 40,000 tonnes and achieved energy cost savings of more than $7.7 million.  More info...

Solar Schools Program set to shine

November 30 was the launch of the State Government’s $1 million Solar Schools program by the Minister for Energy, the Hon Alan Carpenter. The program aims to raise awareness of sustainable energy among school children and school communities while at the same time directly benefiting the environment through reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.  More info...

Main Roads embraces Greenhouse Rating program

Main Roads Western Australia is leading the way by committing to build, design and operate its new Goldfields-Esperance Regional Office in Boulder to achieve an Australian Building Greenhouse whole building rating of at least 4-stars.  More info...

New website promotes energy efficient lighting

Compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) are an energy-smart alternative to conventional light bulbs. And, as part of an international initiative, a new website has been established to promote the development of higher-quality, low-cost CFL lighting products.  More info...

Working Energy Smart

Making your office more energy efficient reduces greenhouse gas emissions. It also saves business owners money on energy costs. The Sustainable Energy Development Office (SEDO) has recently updated a brochure to help your office become a more environmentally-friendly place to work.  More info...
